Cheers, ive seen the photos its just its in a transit van and you cant really see the engine clearly and i was wondering if the cam cover had been swapped because it has the longer transit oil filler on it!!

VanMan, The engines are very similar. They are both DOHC and both have identical-looking plug modules in the same place, the centre of the cam cover between the cams. The cover for the 16V shows as DOHC2000 16V - not sure about the 8v. The simple way is to check the vin plate: the 8V would be shown as engine code NSD and the 16V is shown as N3A. If you think that the engine has been swopped (this is a lot of work because the EECV and everything connected would have to be changed as well) then you could look up from underneath on the engine on the engine block on the offside - the engine code is stamped on the side of the block. I dont think the 8valve has the VIS,variable intake system. If its a 16valve then it will be clearly marked (VIS) on the intake plenum behind the throttle body. eddie
