Strange language on my 7000 radioLCD!

Hi all, car is back on the road after the "ignition barell problem" but because it was off the road for so long the battery had gone flat & after a re-charge the radio asked for the keycode, which I happily supplied it with but now when I use it, it throws up a strange alien language on screen instead of the usual standard English! It almost looks like the ink has run but on some occasions it will show the usual screen. Anyone else had this problem? If so how did they fix it? Please dont tell me i'll have to get a new unit?! Any suggestions will as always be appreciated!

Have you tried another reset? Disconecting the battery again for about 10mins, That might cure the problem. BTW did you charge the battery on the car, or remove it?

Try cleaning the pins on the key panel - another trick is to take the key panel indoors and put it over a warm rad over night! Dave

HI I think it has something to do with the backside connectors of the small panel (remote how i call it), if it hasn't been used for a long period, and moisture gotten in, it could slighty oxidiaze the small contacts, try to clean it a bit and leave it in a warm place for a night. Also try to push it a bit and see if it makes the display do something wierd. Also moisture, damp could gotten behind the lcd screen, if so .....it's a bit more complicated. You shuld get the radio out, take it to pieces...and the screen should have some kind of connector, like mobile phones, hand calculators etc. If you plan to do this take good caution cause it's kind of fragile that connector.
