misfiring when cold

I have a 96 24v wagon with 360.000 km. Since a few weeks the engine misfires badly when cold. After 3 kilometers, this problem has gone. Have renewed the spark plugs, cleaned the WAF and airfilter. What might be the solution?

Had sensors checked by Ford dealer. Diagnose indicates no problem there. You say fuelling and air leakage. Please specify. Regards, Hen.

When I let the engine run idle at 2000 revs for about 2 minutes, the misfiring problem is gone. After start, the engine runs nicely, after about 30 secs the misfiring starts and takes about 1 minute. Engine shakes, running on 3 or 4 cilinders only. Could this be a leak in the fuel supply line or something where air bleeds in during standstill? If yes, where do I find this in the Ford manual? Thanks for helping. Hen.

Have you checked the air filter and fuel filter? Have you checked the HT leads for wear. Or checked there on correctly? Mine was backfiring a wile ago I simply replaced HT leads and hey presto its sorted

This does sound like an HT lead, coil pack or spark plug problem. Check the condition of the wires running to and into the coil pack, check the HT leads. Check plug condition, should be a nice tan at the electrode heads.

. Yeah. A new fuel filter (€ 13,50) did wonders. Thanks for all the support. Hen.
