Rear suspension link arms

Hi guys,

I have identified a rattle from the back of the car on rough roads as coming from worn stabiliser support bushes and the two flat plate link arms from the ends of the stabiliser bar to the lower rear trailing arms. These links appear to be just a push fit at both ends (completely unlike the front link bars, which I have already replaced). Am I right or should I be ordering some other parts as well? If so, which parts?

The car is a 1998 Cosworth saloon without self-leveling.

Thanks,

Neil W.

The top linkage should be just a push fit, But I  think you might need some strong grips to push it on, fully. The way I read it in the manual is that you have to assemble it first before fitting with the estate which has the self leveling. The saloons do not have self leveling suspension AKAIK.

Thanks for that, Snoopy. Parts ordered so we'll see how installation goes next week.

Done the job now.

Turns out that the new links come with bushes pre-fitted and they cannot be separated. The links are push fit top and bottom, but you need a G clamp or similar to press the new links on to the holding spigots because they have a thicker section over which the new bars must be pushed.

Got the old ones off (one was slightly bent, possibly from new as paint still complete) by levering them out.

Also changed the torsion bar bushes, clips, and bolts. Bushes were very worn, particularly on drivers side.

That solves the rattle, but now I find I have another hollow rumble from the back of the car. Ah well..... Huh
