As with many ford radios....try disconnecting the power (make sure you have the code!!) leave it for 20 minutes or so then reconnect again and it should be ok. This works with other "E" error codes so may well work with yours

Going slightly off-topic here but what make are the Ford stereo's and the cd changers? I know that the old cd changers in the Granadas were made by Sony. Is this still the case with the present headunits and cd changers?

Visteon make the changers and the Ford VNR9000 sat nav radio. Blaupunkt make the travelpilot and the MFD (used in the galaxy) sat navs. Clarion make the later CD changer which has the drop down front as used on some focus and mondeos
Not too sure about the 6000 7000 etc.
