bonnet release cable snapped?

Hi, Came to open my bonnet on my scorpio and the lever under the dash just flapped about. Took the bit of dash off on that side, it seems the cable is not attached to anything at the bonnet catch end and I can keep pulling it though. How in the world can I get the bonnet open without the release working.? Please! Cheers, Adam..

As a last resort you could hack your way through the front plastic grille to get to the bonnet release mechanism.

Nightmare situation! Before you do anything drastic, check the cable release trigger mechanism. I thought mine had snapped but the cable had slipped out of the mechanism. The outer sleeve should be trapped in a socket/fork with the inner attached to the 'handle. Look at a bike handbrake mechanism to see what I mean, the end on the handlebars. eddie
