Throttle Problem

First i want to say hello to everyone,
it's been a while with none of my posts 
I need advice on a thing. I have a throttle delay, if i push the accelerator quick, the engine tends to stop for a moment then revs normaly. Under load when i accelerate quick and keep constant throttle the engine revs after a while to speed, and sometimes it doesn't rev constantly.
I have cleaned the MAF, and Throttle body today and gave it another try. In the first 20 - 30 seconds it worked perfectly, no delay, no unusual reving. After that period it retuned to it's previous state.
Despide all of this the engine has power, and pulls nicely, if i don't give it to much acceleration at once.
The car is a 96 2.3L 16 V DOHC engine with Manual gearbox.

hi there
you can check the throttle sensor with a volt meter. set it for 5 volts. it should be a smooth track. i can't remember if the voltage goes up or down, though.

you don't need to do everything, though. i just opened the throttle butterfly and cleaned with carb cleaner and a rag.

The throttle position sensor has 3 wires  where should i maesure betwen them. I have cleaned the throttle body.
The amazing thing is that it worked for 30 seconds, which before it didn't.

not really sure.  the white and the yellow? just push the probes into the back of the multi-plug until you find the right combination. remember to have the ignition on and the meter set to 5 volts. then as you open and close the throttle the volts will rise/fall smoothly. if not then the tps is at fault.

The volts will rise fall smoothly, now everey time the engine is cold it works great (30-40 seconds), after that problem re-apears. Any other ideeas

I haven't had time to measure the temp sensor & lambda's but searching for wires (looking for troble  ) i found that the thin hose of the top of the EGR valve was broken, may this brought me the problem i haven't fixed a new one yet.

Been reading this with intrest!
Just cleaned engine compartment today and found the broken brittle plastic pipe to the ERG! Iv'e had a simlar problem with the reving and lag, but mines only a 2.0l 8v so it may not be effected to a greater extent as yours.what you reckon Scorps?

Had "tunned" my scorp with a cooper pipe (like the one from the brakes) instead of the plastic one, same problem, to be honest i don't know eaven if it does someting, althrough at higher revs it's a slight improve (maybe my imagination), but same long delay. In this morning (engine cold) i have tested the new "pipe-work", for 20-30 second i was a happy man, no delay, after that old habbit returned.

Hello to all !
Long time has passed and still no fix for my delay. Trying to find a fault. I turned on the engine and as i was reving in short shots i heard a strage noise. It sounds as like air is sucked in the trotle body from outside. I have checked the intake system once agin, no leaks. If i put the hand on the intake pipe it generates a great vacuum and the hose that conects the air filter to the throttle body shrinks. So what could produce that noise. Also i mention that the noise happens exactly at hard acceleration....when the engine dies. Another thing i tryied, is to remove the thin pipe from the egr and try to cover it with a finger, but it seams that there's no vacuum. Checked agin all the hoses and the DPFE ( as i remeber to be named)....no aparenty leaks. Can anyoane give me another ideea to try something elese.

how have you checked for leaks ?, try squirting carb cleaner or cold start around the inlet manifold with the engine idling, you will hear a rust of air on throttle snap from idle, the noise you here when the engine dies is perhaps the ICV opening to try & maintain engine speed, has the 2.3 got a MAP sensor, oil in pipe ect ??

The ICV beside of keeping the engine at iddle speed does it have another role like acceleration pump. Or does the scorp has someting like this, maybe it doesn't supply enough fuel. But this still does not explain the behavior at cold, when it runs fine ( for about 30 seconds ).

when cold, the engine runs 'open loop'. after 180 seconds it then starts using all it's sensors for fueling.
have you checked the lambda sensor voltage yet? 0-1 volt.
hard to tell what's happening without an obd-2 scan
