Hi everyone hope you all had a good bank holliday, any advice on this fuel was running low yesterday 36 miles to pump according to trip computer then within a space of about a mile the thing starts to count down like a N.A.S.A space launch !! 36,35,34,33, every couple of seconds, typically we where in darkest Cheshire about 15 miles from nearest open garage so panic ensued, no leaks from tank , no smell from engine, eventually got £20 worth stuck in it and normal service resumed. Today trip said 130 miles to pump and then same thing ..... 130 down to zero in about 2 mins. Is this electrical or have i really got a 3" hole in tank that i cant see . Thanks in advance ,Ian.

What sort of MPG is the trip giving you for average odes sound rather strange though...More like and electrical gremlin...also what mileage did the £20 give you.... Have you checked for leaks with the engine running as the pump only works with the ignition on and if there is a leak after the pump then it would show only then... and be qquite obvious I think! More info req'd PLEASE.

Does sound like a leak though. You need to check with the engine running and get underneath it, or get it checked at at garage.. sounds like its leaking from the fuel lines some where or even the filter...Otheres might have some idea. there are two fuel lines under the car the in and the return you have to check both.

Further to the above there is a TSB which refers to the Trip computer indicatig excessive fuel comsumption on the 2.0l car up to and including build RA 8v and 16v variants so might well be worth checking that out.... TSB 22/1995 refers if you need sight of it email me and I will send it to you.
