RADIATOR AGAIN

hi guys
got my car back today (smiling again)
however upon getting it back home the temp gauge was just hovering above half way
took the car for a twenty mile run and the temperature gauge never moved still just above midway
got it back home and left it for a few hours gauge is now in the blue so i can assume the gauge is working
prior to my radiator going pete tong the gauge rarely moved more than a few mm above the blue and if it did creep any higher ie in standing traffic it soon went back down when i started moving
what i guess im asking is
is my gauge normal now or was it normal pre radiator
change.
could i have damaged the thermostat or damaged the waterways with the barrs mixture
thanks in advance

hi there

are you saying it's at 1/2 way in the normal box? if so, that's fine. might be an idea to change the thermostat and check the radiator fans are working correctly.

hi
yes its its just over half way between the red and blue within the normal box
fans are working ok
i am going to change the thermostat as boiling it dry has probably damaged it
just noticed after a short run that the expansion tank is almost full with water
however when the car cools down the water is back to normal between the marks is this a problem !!!!!

Hi Meatman,

its ok for the indicator to be at "halfway", mine has never been above this point.  Smiley

Its also normal for the water level to be above max when hot, just check the level when cold.

Oh no - radiators.  The blooming syndrome that has tortured us is really well answered in another thread!  I am SO glad I found this site!  Thermostat is the cure of most evils I am led to believe
