Hi,

does the key work in the boot? Have you tried holding the remote very close to the car door/window? Have you tried both doors? Past that you will have to get in as before as far as I am aware.

When we got our Scorpio the remote didn't work, none of the locks apart from the ignition worked and the only way we could get into the car was with the fob for an aftermarket alarm that didn't work particularly well (and flattened the battery in 10 days!)

The best thing to do is get a new lockset if possible. This includes both front door locks, ignition and boot lock. Cost from ford is about £70. They wanted £450 to fit it but it took me a few hours and that was without circlip pliers (v useful!!).

Does the key turn in the lock but just not open it? Maybe take your existing key to your local locksmith and have them cut a new one. If the old key is very worn it will not open the lock.

If the locks are seized and the key won't turn at all try plenty of WD40 as well as maybe a new key. Bear in mind any new key would need coding before it would start the car, or just continue using your existing one for the ignition.

Good luck.

Your profile does not indicate where you are located. That knowledge may mean that there is someone local to you who could offer some help and maybe the expertise to identify the problem and provide a solution.
