One of the head gasket's on my '95 2.5 td has gone along with what looks like a broken piston ring. I've ordered up a set of head gaskets and a new set of rings for the piston, but looking at the torque settings in the td diesel engine section on the main site for when i put it back together again it gives the re-torquing of the M14 cylinder head bolts as being 705NM, and the M12 bolts as being 855 NM (then torqued again to 1305NM), is this right cos it sounds way too high to me? Thanks, Matt www.fordscorpio.co.uk/engdatadiesel.htm

I would not have thought that the data that is published is incorrect, as it is taken directly from the FORD workshop Manual as is used by all Ford Tecnicians and supplied to the Site by Ford . I have rechecked the data as suppied and it is as published.

deffinate misprint in the manual section, no re torque on stretch bolts either, bolts can be used twice, but best to use new.

thanks for your help, good point about using new head bolts, better be on the safe side and get some new ones even if it will take another week for Ford to get hold of them. Matt

Mazzy_j Have full read of this section of the Manual it gives you the torque values and sequences about half way down the page and they are as Martin States... Different to the values given on the technical data page.... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/tdi/TDIDismantle.pdf
