I am off to the South of France on Monday for 3 glorious weeks of driving pleasure!! With regards to the switch on the front headlamps that change the beam for driving on the left, does anyone know if it is supposed to be normally in the up position or the down position when it is over here? I have 1 in each position! any advice would be appreciated Baz

Hope you have a great time! Don't know about the settings, but wouldn't you be able to sort it out by shining the lights onto a wall?

Baz, I'm off to France next week, and have been checking mine too. The tab that you move up and down is attached to a circular ring, which has a tab on each side, opposite each other. When one side is up, the other side is down and vice versa, so it depends on whether you're referring to the inner or outer tab, if you see what I mean. Tony

As tony states it depends if your looking at the left or right hand side of the light ... BTW if you intend travelling at night in France, ( I have just returned from 3 weeks there) make sure you keep your tank full as ENGLISH credit/debit cards will NOT work in any of the French auto ( unmanned) filling stations. ther system they use is incompatable with the british one. I tried 5 different cards and my maestro cards and eventuallt went into the bank to ask why and thats the reply I got .. I had to use manned petrol stations to fill up ..

Baz, We're goin on Monday 4th July, but not as far as you, although we are travelling from Scotland. Disneyland and Paris for a few days then a week in a cottage in Normandy for a rest!!! Then a few days back in Liverpool (my roots) so my daughter can see Anastacia (yet again) at the Liverpool Pops, then back home to Fife, Scotland around 20th/21st July. Hope the car runs well!!!! Good luck and Bon Voyage. I love my Scorp to bits but as a card carrying pessimist and a scaredy-cat of long standing, I'd be less than confident driving abroad. For one, they all drive like looneys and the thought of my Scorpio broken and bleeding at the side of the road is too much to contemplate. Also , sods law would surely make an appearance, choosing that time for the Wiring Loom to spontaneously combust like a Chinese cracker. Nah, it's easier to rent a car and leave the old girl at home.

Tony, took mine to Disneyland last october, just in time for all the halloween celebrations...bloody marvelous for the kids. I love the driving over there as the roads are great and pretty quiet unless you want to venture round Paris at rush hour (Don't ask, it was a long time ago and in a Mondeo estate with roof box and three bikes strung on the back and after the cycle carrier straps broke.......well guess the rest!!) Mr F. I can see your logic mate, we flew to Germany last July and hired a 4.0 litre Jeep. Great for running abouit in but not a patch on mine for luxuries. I did the same trip to East Germany in a Rover 75 once, now that was fun

It really doesn't matter whether your in the newest Aston Martin or the oldest Austin Allegro (not that I've ever owned one, but I knew a man who did.... and I must admit I once owned a Morris Marina.....) but.... any car can break down.... just think of all those cars you pass on the motorway... and think... god that's a new car,,,, or that's only a two year old Jaguar, or that's only a four year old Nissan,,,,, or that's only a six month(week?) old Rover 75.... you know what I mean.. Even with a hire car... think of the hassle... Better the devil you know..... Might change my tune within the next few weeks though! If I need help halfway down the A1, or somewhere around the M25 haha. Tony By the way, travelling the length of the country, flash me if you see me! Ash black estate P997*** Cheers Everyone! Tony
