stalling/almost stalling

Hi there,

I own my 24v estate for about 3 weeks now, so I started to sort the faults.  Smiley

The current problem is, if I drive the car for about 100 km and then I arriwe to a great traffic jam or something like that, then the engine will lose power. It feels like some cylinders are not working, the idle starts to be dodgy, and sometimes the engine stalls. If I restart the engine it will run fine for some seconds, but then it will do the same. If at this time I press the accelerator to the max, the engine will stall or will wait for 2-3 secs and then revs up normally. I don't really understand what's going on.

ICV cleaning? MAF failure? Worn spark plugs? Anything else?  Undecided

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

filters & new plugs allways a good base to start from, clean MAF & ICV, check for air leaks, particularly at EGR and vac hoses under plenum chamber, squirt carb cleaner/cold start to trace vac leak, dont squirt on exhaust.

Engine oil is changed (fine 5W40 full synthetic), oil filter and air filter as well (pollen filters also  Grin ), MAF is cleaned.

So the remaining are the plugs and the ICV cleaning. I'll do those today if raining stops.

It looks like there's the problem only when the engine gets fully hot (I mean, normal operating temperature)...

How to check for air leaks? Where should I start, where to spray the carb cleaner/cold start stuff?

Thanks for the information!

No, I tried, but that didn't make any difference. Sad

Ummmmmm..... I forgot to mention that the problem occurs when the automatic gear is in Drive. I didn't try it in Neutral... Is that possible that something is wrong with the gearbox instead?

OK, I've cleaned the ICV, checked all the vacuum hoses and electrical wires, and it seems there's no more idling problems. Thanks for all the ideas!
