More problems, ignition this time

A couple of hours ago I was about to go home after shopping, slight problem though, they key would'nt turn at all in the ignition. I called Green Flag and the mechanic started it be levering the steering lock open with a screwdriver and turning the key then. As soon as I got home I did a foum search here and found this http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ignitionlock.htm which I was relieved about, I thought it could have been a couple of hundred quid job. Only problem is when I went back to the car for another look the barrel locked up again, but this time the steering lock hadn't re-applied (the locking teeth are still down) so I can't start it the same way, or remove the lock mechanism as described in the link (it say the key should be at position one first). Any suggestions where to go from here? Ian

Ian, Have a look at this thread in particular Ady's post about how he fixed his. May help you. You may have to wait a day or so for other advice as a lot of the lads will be at Weston. Good luck.

Yep, that's the thread I found when I did the forum search. The problem I have is the thread and the linked article say that to remove the barrel the key should be turned to position one. I can't turn they key at all and the screwdriver/steering lock trick won't work because he steering lock is disengaged anyway. Ian

Spotted this the other night and I have been experiencing problems with the ignition lock ( must have something to do with 182k!). Picked up a lock this morning already built by the dealer (they weren't keen on me doing it?) to a spare key and fitted in minutes. The problem which was nearly going to see the car go has gone itself for £25. Brilliant.
