2.3 Ultima Estate: Remote central locking stopped, works ok off key. Replaced batteries and re programmed (on off 4 times, press remote etc) Nothing, bought second had remote and tried that...nothing. Does anyone know if the remote part of the central locking is linked to a fuse, or know of any other likely causes? Thanks

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/remote.htm Its on and off 5 times then back to position 1 to program the remote Site says turn it on/off once then three times then once more = 5 (must be for those that can only count to three ) and a long pause between each one, I left about 5 secs, first time i tried it got nothing to work.. too fast I think. Hope that helps Highlander

If you can get it complete programing the unlock button on the remote must be working? If you lock it with the key can you then open it with the remote? Does sound like the keys need what Scorpioman says though

Also check that the positive terminal is making a connection, As you insert the batteries there is a small 'tag'sticking up alongside them. If you look at the circuit board there is a large gold circle where the batteries connect but alongside it there is a small gold square which is where the upright 'tag' connects to make the circuit. You may need to carefully adjust this to complete the circuit and sometimes a bit of trial and error is involved. Good luck.

Hi Thanks to everyone for their help. I have now cleaned the circuit board, applied conductive paint. Tried numerous variation of turning the ignition (By the way I have always managed to get the unit to chime at the beginning and at the of the sequence) and to my frustration nothing! Does anyone no if there is an RF receiver on board that may have gone Phut?

Whereabouts are you in the country? Maybe you could meet up with someone and check their remote with your car. Or maybe someone could lend you a spare one to try out!! Baz
