Climate Control

Hi all
finally got A/C C/C working. It was the compressor again!! The problem now! is that after about an hour driving there is no air blowing out of the vents. The motor is still running and the vents themself are cold, just a lack of air being blown through.
If I switch off or park up everything works OK again but then the same thing happens.
Any ideas.

Thanks in advance

Try reading this http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=climate+control+modification&sp -a=sp100172f5 and see if that helps.

Just reading this thread completly Embarassed

The mod may not help your problem, but is worth fitting!

When you say a lack of air is this on 'Auto' or what happens if you turn the blower to max?

If the system is freezing up ypu should still get air blowing in!

Could be a problem with the logic of the vents - try a reset as per the main page!

Hi Daven
thanks for that.
The lack of air is on Auto and normal,  the vents still get cold but there is no air blowing into the cabin.
What does the mod do?

The mod reduces the air temperature by affecting the resistance reading from the thermistor probe! Read about it here

If there is no air but the fan is spinning - where is the air going to? I suspect there is a problem with the control system that adjusts the flaps!?

If the fan is just slowing down then it could be the HBC see here

hi there

have you changed the pollen filters? they could be blocked. run without them for a day or so and see if that helps.

if not, then

1. system is freezing up. points to a dodgy thermistor probe. this is what killed my system.

2. rec vac unit (under windscreen) faulty. with the engine running and the system ON, turn it OFF. can you hear a clunk sound, say 1/2 sec afterwards? if not, then unit not working. this opens and closes the air intake flap.

this page has a good photo of the rec unit (in his hand).

sounds like the good old heater blower control playing up!
pretty common problem. mine was a pain for this, changed it for a s/h one. now does it once in a while. piece of p*ss to change. you'll find fan just does it's own thing, and cuts out more and more the hotter it gets.
only fool proof solution would be to fit a new hbc module. god knows how much mr & mrs ford will charge though!
good luck.

Hi
thanks for advice.
Went to London yesterday and have now found out that the problem is not only to do with the cooling. If the heating is on the same thing happens, had the heat on full but no flow through the vents again.

Does it still sound like the HBC?

Thanks

have you tried a reset to see if it throws up any codes ?

probability is that it will show code 57 if thats the case, still not the end of the world though, when i reset mine i get 57 as a fault every now and then, just clear it and reset it,this works for me
