hi there

sounds like the headlight switch. they can burn out one of the terminals.

hth
btw, also check all the fuses. i think 4 different ones cover the headlights.

like scorpio man says, how can you be sure the switch is woking ok,have you tried swapping it with a known working one ?,take the switch out and look at the electrical plug in connector on the back, these can become charred and blackened and cause the symtoms you have .....

It may be worth checking the large black plug in front of the drivers side fusebox. It is held in place by an arm but the arm can lock without all of the contacts engaging, this will leave you without headlights.

Or try this site which refers to Sierra but it is said to refer to the Scorpio by those who know such things and is accessed from a link on this site.http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra_el.html. Simmo

Go to this page and see if any of the topics has what you want.http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/electric.htm. Try'fusebox re-build 2' for starters. Good luck.

have you checked the bulbs?
Have you had a flat battery recently and tried to jump it with the light switch on?
