Revs climbing!!

Hi all. Bought ex-cop Cosworth 3 months ago (many thanks to all contributors for useful info!). About a month ago on a scorching hot day got caught in a tailback behind a tractor. Crawling along I suddenly realised that I was having to ride the brake as the rpms were climbing steadily. Pulled over, switched off, started again ok. No more problems until this afternoon, on braking from 70mph to turn into work had the same scenario: holding her back with the brake while she tries to pull away rpms rising steadily. Is this indicative of the dreaded MAF? Oh yeh, mechanical aptitude: novice.

Try reading this http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm. The job is simple and even if you have to replace it its not vastly expensive. On my 2ltr the revs went crazy, then down to almost stall, then ok for a while, then went crazy again. Mine had to be replaced BUT sometimes cleaning will cure the problem.
