Angry
I changed my interior courtesy lights on my 2.5td ghia.
From the single light type to the single and 2 map light type, if you can make sense of that?
Thing is now they dont work, checked the fuse and the door switch, they don`t even work when you put them on manually, checked the bulbs they are ok.
So any idea`s from you guys would be great.

Oh yeh, i got them second hand but they were working when i fitted them up til a few weeks ago.

Hi Snoopy.
Checked the fuse No 36. still no joy.
I`m at a dead end except bite the bullet and take it to an expensive auto electrician.  Sad doh

hi there

have you checked all the fuses? the scorpio's wiring connects to all sorts of things! ie 4 or 5 fuses for the headlights etc.

Jay, Is there power at the actual feed to the unit? If so could it be that one of the 'pins' has corroded as this seems to be a feature of a lot of electrical problems related to the Scorp. You say it was working when you first changed it so has anything been done to the car since that may have affected it?. Just a thought but there must be a relay in the circuit for the delay on the unit before you turn on the ignition. Havn't checked what fuse 36 does yet so may be thats what Snoopy is thinking. Good luck and HTH. Simmo

Jay, Have you found this page? http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/fuseboxes.htm.Fuse 36 relates to the 'power saver' the relay is R16. Fuse 24 appears to cover the interior lights and audio. Good luck.

Sometimes, after working on the car, the interior lights can all go out. Its quite a common thing actually.
And this is why Snoopy has advised about fuse 36 (power save fuse).
Quite often this is found to be the culprit. This fuse seems to blow before the actual one for the interior lights.
I would double check fuse 36, even replace it if it 'looks' ok. If no joy, remove the lamps again and check those connections.

Hi Snoopy,Scorpio_man,Simmo and Paul B,i changed the original RDS 6000 unit with a Sony head unit a while ago i did blow the fuse a few times that powers the radio, and since then the lights havn`t worked. fuse 36 & 24 checked out ok, i replaced them as these were the one`s that blew, maybe it is the relay, i will take the relay off the other car i`m breaking and try that, the connections are not corroded and the bulbs check out ok too.
Thanks for your help, lets hope i get it sorted.
