Hi,

I have a problem with my “95 2l 16 scorpio. I think that low rev terque is very bad. When engine is cold it works better but when it reaches normal operating temperature low rev torque became very bad. Little throttle openings car on only hesitate and acceleration is very slow. When i floor the pedal car accelerates better but it still feel to hesitate. Is this engine really so crap or is there something wrong with it ?

Any 2l 16v owner who have comments ?   Roll Eyes

hi there

try running with the EGR disabled. to do this, take the small vac tube of the EGR valve and block this tube with a small screw.

also check the throttle plates are working correctly.

see if that helps.

I changed spark plugs and fix coil loom wich have some cracks in wiring. It got better but i think there“s still something wrong. Disabling egr doesn“t affect anything.

Is it a manual or automatic?

Could the clutch be slipping?

Well it weighs more than your Cosworth and has about 250 bhp less so what do you expect? Grin

On the torque front, there really is not much grunt below 3000rpm or at least in my experience, I guess the 2litre is better as a mile muncher, which is what mine does all day long.
