Timbo,
Yes - this is a bit of a nightmare.  Shocked

When Cosworth raised the power of the old Cologne engine from 147 to 207bhp by slapping on two double OHC cylinder heads they obviously had to remove a lot more heat.  They did this by channelling the water flow through the heads via a new housing between the V, and used a bypass type thermostat down the side of the block behind the AC compressor.  In order to connect the two they used the deadspace on the n/s cylinder bank to put the coolant hose - and there's very little space.  Sad
Other owners can see what you're up against by looking at the bottom of http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/idleprob.htm

Can you get to the hose clip with the cylinder head in place?  If so you might be able to pull the hose out of the gap, and use vaseline on the new hose and push it through the gap.  Removing the cylinder head would cost about £500 for a new gasket set, so it would be worth removing the water pump housing and pulling the pipe through slightly to get more room.

You might be able cut through the hoseclip with a dremel tool, but then there may be problems pulling the hose out - and you must not allow the dremel to cut into the hose flange or it will leak forever - however, replacing the water pump housing itself would still be a lot cheaper than a n/s cylinder head removal.

While you're there and the inlets are off, examine the heater pipe and the housing carefully for any real corrosion and if you see any I strongly recommend you change anything that shows rusting, using new parts.  And use the correct Ford part for the hose - this is job you only want to do once  Wink
HTH

PS - When you've done the job can you let us know what method you used?

hi there i have now replaced the hose from ford,  with all the gaskets and extras needed £57.07 including vat, not bad had to take of octopus, fuel rail, ac pump. while i was there i replaced the ac belt, o rings air penium gaskets, all in all not a bad job,  a bit tricky to get the hose on at the top but with a little patience and a bit of fairy liquid it slipped on.  just 1 problem tho now it is all together my car is running very rough ? i numbered the injection leads when i took them off, but could you tell me if ther is a fool proof way of putting them back on in order ?. i might of disturbed the loom on top of the engine between the V,  do you think it might be that also ?, plz help

Timbo,

if you have disconnected the battery while doing this work the ECU needs to re-learn its settings. The car needs to be driven a few miles but should settle down.

Did you replace the injector seals at the same time?

Cheers

check the vacuum hoses, particularly the 'T' piece in the middle, check also the egr pipes, 'O' rings on plenum can leak also if not aligned correctly.,try squirting a little diesel engine cold start or carb cleaner round the inlet to check for leaks.
