Help with Auto box

Just got hold of a secondhand box for my N Reg 2.0lt scorpio have taken the old box out and it looks different around the torque converter my new one has a wavey plate on the one out of the car doesn't anyone have an idea what the wavey plate is for was there this palte on later models

Hi Martin ..do you mean a " wavey" separation plate between the bellhousing and the engine block ..or do you mean the torque converter "spring" plate < with starter ring > ?? .... cheers ..STN
