Air bag light

I have a problem with the airbag light staying on. I have a 2.3 ultima, when i first bought the car the abs and airbag lights both stayed on. I sorted out the ABS (connector to the ABS pump actuator) but I can't sort out the airbag light. I've read though previous posts and followed the airbag diagnosics but after totally stripping the connectors to the pre belt tensioners, airbags and module it is the same. The only time it ever goes out is when i first get into the car on a very hot day and it then works perfectly until the car cools down. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Also, I am looking at getting an OBD reader, what do people recommend for the Scorpio?

I haven't seen the airbag light flash at all but there is one other strange thing that i had forgotten about til I drove again today and that is the Cruise control light doesn't ever come on.. except at the same time as the airbag light does go out (when it is very hot inside the car). Does this help with anything? I believe it has to be someting inside the car as when the car cools with the aircon the lights switch!!

Maybe there is a not to good connector somewhere, and if the car gets hot the dashboard does the same, you can check the plugs, wires etc. Do you have a battery cover fitted, are the drain holes clean, maybe thers water ingress in the fuse boxes, and when it's hot in actualy the fuses get a bit dry.

I have the battery cover fitted, the connections in the fusebox all seem ok but I am going to check through everything again. Came home from work today and had a P/S hose split so that's the next job!! (luckily I have another one). Sorry for the term "Actuator", should have said the ABS pump (I work for Toyota and use American/Jap terms!!)
