hi folks back again with yet another problem this time its a water leak. i have been loosing water from somewhere for about a week, today after driving it i noticed water running down the road from the car looking underneath i could not see where it was coming from it seemed to be dripping from all over the place. all pipes i could see looked ok the strange thing is the header tank does not seem to have lost any water not enough to put the warning light on anyway, also after that it stoped and has not leaked since i first saw it this afternoon, drove the car another 15 miles and not a drip strange eh any suggestions as to the cause

Logic says the only other sources of water are the washer bottle or some form of excess from the Air con system. There are two 'drain' pipes from the air con which come through the engine bulkhead and exit either side of the block. Check out theAircon section on the main site.

Its from the air conditioning. Mine does the same, in very hot weather. Never needs so much as a egg cupful in the raditor cooling system.

does sound like the aircon, have a look at THIS,do you have the aircon running all the time ?... when i first got this car (had a granada scorpio previous),and to be honest, the ammount of condensation that this car leaves on the road always looks frightening, lots more than the granada, and on a really bad day,you always get the warning "excuse me,do you know your car is leaking"........ back to the original problem though, you say you are "losing" water, are you topping any water levels up at all ?

this first posting is confusing. I missed the bit about water running down the road. Air con would not put that amount of water on the gound surely. You should have anit-freeze in the rad. I suggest next time rub you finders in the water on the ground. If it from the cooling system you will smell the anti freeze. If its from the air con, it will be like plain water.

Hi Phil, Was it you that had the 12v with the level indicator that kept coming on? Does it work now? have you checked the actual coolant level? mine has a water mark on the tank that looks like the level from outside but it isnt.
