key cutting!!

have recently purchased `94 ultima 2.0 16v but supplied with just one key the torch one with the orange pip in it . have been told i need the "T....." code to get another cut and programmed ? cant find this code anywhere , so can i still get one done and can i get a new red master done too?? please help as i reckon one of these days i`m gonna leave the keys in the boot by mistake , then i will be in trouble!!

I presume so, but the lock smith people will know all that. I have used my local guy and he comes out to the house and does it there.

That URL Snoopy quoted above pretty much tells you how to read the keycode. Just a little amplification offered. There is *always* at least one 4 cut on the key. Find that and it helps to judge whether the others are 2's or 3's. (1 is obvious - it isn't cut at all.) Once you've got the keys, they need to be programmed to the car, and as you haven't got the RED master key, that means finding someone with an RDS, WDS, PDS or other diagnostic tool. Your dealer can do it (That'll cost you) Your friendly neighbourhood auto locksmith can sometimes do it (that'll cost less) Or, if you're very lucky and live anywhere near Luton, I'll do it for you (and that'll cost you nuthin') If you want me to cut the keys for you as well, that'll cost you the price I pay for the blanks (Currently £12 each).
