Coil Pack - is this normal?

Hi all. I've just been wandering around the engine bay and found this, is it normal? http://tinypic.com/e9sphc.jpg 1- connector missing one contact, clips onto 2 - a grey box on the side of the coil pack. http://tinypic.com/e9spkj.jpg -The back of the connector, just one wire. This all looks like earthing, obviously, but it's just so elaborate. Is it really just earthing or should there be another wire there? Dave

Yeah it's normal. That grey box is not that important either.
