chaps I need your help.................
1) the front electric windows are dead. No button lights X 4, no up/down of front or back windows from drivers panel. No power from passenger front switch. This is unlit as well.
Rear switches work fine, and are lit. SO rear windows work from rear switches BUT not front switches.
done so far.........
renewed drivers door ECU twice...just in case.
powered the yellow wire at door motor, window came down
powered white wire at motor......nothing.
REBUILT the fuse box completely......no difference, but a few electric items started to work that didn't before....
checked for power into drivers door, orange wire live to mirror switch.....mirrors work....
any ideas?
2) the owner removed the fusebox plug in engine bay to clean it....unknown to me...I had ignition on etc.....now front headlights do not work...no power to them..no sides,dipped or main.....all fuses ok, and all dash lights work to indicate lights on.....no power to lights.
I rechecked all pins in connector/fusebox =ok
any ideas........
downloaded wiring diagrams from TIS but still no forward.......

Bertie you had a window module off me I think?
I know that worked as I checked it just before I took it off.
I will have a quick look through some wiring diagrams to see if I can see anything it might be.
But it does sound like fuses or a broken wire.

have you checked the power saver module?
what about the wiring across the the front of the engine compartment?
are all the relays sound?

Dave...yep I have had a module off you which I know was good...you said so...I've also tried another good 1 from MY car !!!! still the same
andy......I've renewed the powersaver fuse and relay.....but the car does drain the battery after no use for 4 days.....I had tested the alternator for charge and it was erratic to say the least so I expect it to be duff....brand new battery fitted last week...as the old 1 looked ropey...
I tested/inspected/renewed all relays/fuses during rebuild that looked iffy....
as I say...its got me beat....completely....
something to mull over eh!!!

hi check the main plug to the drivers side fusebox , it can go back on one pin out , mine did and i had no lights ect, took me ages to find hth ,rick

Hi Simon, sorry to hear about your problem mate.
Do you get the sound of any relays clicking in the front doors when you press any of the window buttons up or down? I'd check those connections again up underneath the main fuse box carefully checking the pins in the colored connections and making sure they are securely seated. I'd also check all the earth straps on the engine bay and make sure they are clean.
Does your drivers memory seat work/move when you press buttons 1,2 or 3? How about the global closing with the key?
Sorry its a stab in the dark mate. If I were still in Leeds I’d come up over the weekend and help you out with it!

cheers for that Danny...I know you would help if you were this side of the lake.....
nope.its got me beat...............I've tried everything I can think of......
at the window motor...drivers side...there are about 5 wires in the connector going the the motor.....now the wiring diagram says the 1.5 yellow is window down, the 1.5 white is window up....so I bared the wires (still connected) and took a live direct from battery to yellow...window down...to white.nowt...diddly squat.....that shows how the car is fighting me.....
the connector in the engine bay reg's no power out of the fusebox....went to the headlights....purple wire with black tracer powers bulb.......found it in the connector...nowt.....coming through...all fuses register power there...looked underneath at bottom of fusebox....took out the connector plugs...all fine...refitted...nowt......
checked headlight switch....fine no burning.......all dash lights come on and door open display bleeping cos door open.......and lights on....but they are not !!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh

ok, this is a wild shot in the dark, and dont really help with the elecric windows (i dont think) but as you are stuck, if the dash is going crazy, telling you all doors are open and lights are on, could there be an open/short circuit on the dash itself? have you tried another one?
if this is of no help at at all im sry, just trying to eliminate something else for you!

Just reading through this saga it seems to me that the clue lies in the fuse box. You say that when you 'played' with the fusebox some things worked again. Then later you say there appears to be no power out of the fusebox. If you are certain that the plugs are all correctly located(there have been several posts about the plug appearing to be located but actually being one pin out) then something surely is stopping the power leaving the fusebox or at least from certain circuits. Good luck.

I absolutely go with Simmo on this.
The fuse box connections are built up with thin metal connections in layers, building up busbars and shorting bar connectors between the output pins and the relays and fuses. Any problems with these layers will produce exactly the symptoms you describe: some circuits working then not working, others dead, switches live but not operating because the relays are not energised, and so on.
I think the best bet to save you months of grief is to bite the bullet and buy a new fusebox from an FMD. They are not hugely expensive, and once it's fitted most of these problems will disappear. Any that are left will be much easier to diagnose.

hello bertie,you say the batt goes flat after four days, my cossie did that stripped out fuseboxes did all that .found out that the wiring harness that runs down by the servo along chassis leg to large multi plugs was warm to touch as the insulation on the wires had fell to bits,this caused the same type of troubles you are having,i have rewired it and have had no trouble since.hope this helps.
