Pulling left?

Picked the Scorp up on saturday. Really nice drive, apart from the steering is pulling quite hard to the left. Hmm, tracking must be out I thought, erm nope! Had it tracked yesterday and it's still the same. Second thought was a sticky caliper? But having done 725 miles in it, I think something would have happend to further prove this?! Like a brake pad disintergrating or cooking a wheel bearing maybe?! I'm also experiencing heavy steering judder under braking, are the two related? A bush gone somewhere? Your advice please....

Steering Judder, fairly common, pitted and warped discs are usually the problem. Pulling to the left, similarly common on high mileage cars, try checking the brakes for binding or maybe the front wishbone bushes are on the way out. Check the old Forum pages for other members similar problems.

Re. the pulling to the left - I suppose you've checked the tyre pressures? You can lose quite a bit of pressure before it actually becomes visibly noticeable. (Nice avatar by the way ) Nodge

Mine was pulling left a couple of months ago. I changed the wishbones as it'd done 150k but stil pulling left. I swapped the front tyres over (ie left to right etc) and it would pull to the right. The wear had been uneven (ie different on the left than the right). Finally I had a puncture in the badly worn one and when replaced the pull disappeared. Long way of saying, "try swapping them". If it makes a difference then you know where to look. I think the old wishbones were probably responsible for the bad wear so, indirectly, they could still be an issue. They can go quickly sometimes. Mike PS I can second the juddering caused by the discs; This seems to happen regularly with me - ie every 60 - 70k

i have to check air pressure every three weeks, as does paul. the front tyres (225/50/16) do seem to lose air quicker than they should. russ

Me too - never had a car with tyres that needed so much tlc. Run my Ultima estate on 29/26 as specified - backs are fine but fronts lose a load over a month. Valves and alloys checked and all ok, no punctures, but they still lose and throw the car out. Now do it weekly

How strange, my scorp also loses air faster from the front tires. As for pulling left / right it ain't only traking, cand be a wishbone bush, or a steering rod end with problems Also had a heavy steering juder but with new brake disks and pads it's cured now.
