help please my wife used my 2.3 scorpio auto the other day and when she left the car park of a local supermarket the car seemed slugish to accelerate she then noticed that the o/d light was flashing. on arrival at home the car would not select reverse gear. when i arrived home i tried the car and it seems be trying to drive forward no matter were the gear selector is positioned even in neutral. the overdrive light is no longer flashes and goes on and off with depression of the button any advice please i think that the overdrive is stuck in and this stoping selection of reverse and cotinuous drive am i right and what could be the cause.

hi there 2 things to try first.... give the MAF a clean....http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm then bring the car up to temp and keep the engine at all times, check the gearbox level. do this by cycling through the gears 3 times each. then check the level. use the fault finder page....http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm hth i should add that if the o/d flashed, then an error code should be stored. post your location and see if a member with a OBD-2 lead lives nearby.
