No heat, but blower working !

Yesterday, I set the climate control to high, but no heat came out of the vents. The blower was pumping out loads of air, but it was cold air. I reset the CC to low, and the air was very cold, as it should be, but when setting back to high, or even to temp 29 the air was cold again.
I've tried the CC reset, but the procedure doesn't work.
Anybody got any ideas ?

try parking on a hill facing up the hill and let it idle for 5 min or so to get the temp in the block up a bit then blip the throttle a few times to move any airlock in the heater matrix (you might hear a gurgle ) then find you have heat . i dont know why but some cars have a habit of collecting air in the heater these days ,i think the pump speed must be too slow to clear small airlocks when folks have to idle around town these days

This was a problem with my car, I got a t-piece mod that one of the members on this forum was offering (sorry, can't remember who it was), that you insert into that terrible snake bend in the collant pipe exiting from the heater matrix in the engine compartment.
You have to cut the pipe and remove that aweful bend then insert this t-piece. It has a bleed valve at the top which allows you to remove any air locks which the Cosworth was notorious for getting.
I also ended up having to change out the heater matrix as this was completely blocked with sediment.
Make sure you get the right matrix, it's a real challenge as most places try to sell you the Sierra one for the Cosworth which I can assure is not the correct unit.
We are also putting a new rad on the car this weekend so hopefully we will have the car up and running and with heat too

got similar problem, but it goes away if i revv the car.
i think its sediment or air lock on the matrix. wonder if the water pump is ok. maybe the loose power or the fins block up.

Thanks for the advice so far, but, I've already tried raising the front of the car on ramps, and revving ( even up to the redline ),after 10-15 mins of idling ( the temp gauge was showing half way), but with no luck. This problem with the heat loss occurred overnight, the previous day it was perfect. The rad and matrix, were flushed, back flushed, and refilled, 6-8 months ago when I did routine servicing, and the heating has always been perfect, up until now. There has also been no coolant loss. The car has done about 2-3000 miles since then. A heater matrix doesn't block overnight, and it doesn't seem to be an air lock.
Bearing this in mind, anybody else got any ideas ?

I own Scorpio Ultima 2.3 Est 1998 and it has been faultless for last 7 years. The other day it developed exactly the same fault as yours. One day heating perfect, the next day lots of cold conditioned air or just forced ambient cold air at higher temps. Everything working except total lack of heat. As soon as I could I jumped on the forum and found your post and others talking about the CCreset. I have just carried it out from start to finish, as listed, and voila it works.
When I interrogated the system it said I had faults 57 and 50. I believe 50 is usually seen. I exited the interrogation as listed and then followed the 'Programming the Control Unit' procedure. I was left with a flashing 00 at the end. Turned off the ignition, started it up again and all was well.
I have seen somewhere on the forum that several attempts may have to be made. And I also don't discount that my original problem has not gone away and will mess with the heat again but for now all is good. Still do not know what 57 is as Fault Codes seem to be all 01 02 etc.

57 is a faulty HBC and 50 is a normal setting when doing a rest on the CC. If the 57 fault has cleared then you can ignore it but it could be the HBC starting to fail, but personally if its cured leave well alone.

5. Press the "Recirculated Air" button until the code "00" appears.
6. Simultaneously press the buttons for "Recirculated Air" and "A/C" for about 10 seconds until the code "00" appears on the passenger side LCD. After this step the initialisation process is complete and the adjustment is finished.

I seem to remeber when the reset page was first written the writer had the very same problem, " unable to set 50 " but the reset did still work though.
Perhaps others have more knowledge about this but the reset should still work.
Have you tried looking for stored faults first before doing the reset?
