before you go down the drastic route.......buy some diesel and pour it down the spark plug and let it soak over night........if that doesn't work, pour some diesel in a pot and heat it up.....hot...then pour it down......this should release the threads in the head against the spark plug.......

use a bigger bar at the worst it will break & you still have to get the head off, at best it will come out, bigger question is why is it so tight, did it move at all, if so then may be corroded on the end, signs of coolant ingress, could also try with the engine hot, alluminium expands. exhaust all possabilities befor head off job, thats a bigie.

As said the last thing you want to do is take the head off. Shocked

Do as said as it would be harder to remove it anyway if you took the head off Wink
If by some chance the plug breaks up & falls into the cylinder then you might consider such a drastic action Sad

Point is solarpanel it will be harder for you to get the plug out if you took the head off.
Socket is slipping round, oh dear you might be in trouble, give it your best shot, would be worth buying a new good quality socket just for the job as it will save you money, remember to spray some WD40 in the hole & let it soak. It would also be worth letting the engine run & warm up then try to undo it as it cools.
If you have to take the head off you will understand why we say it is a last resort mate Wink

Good Luck.

I know of shops in Norway which sells tools designed to work with damaged sockets. The wrenches have a lot of extra indentations (if that's what they're called), which makes them lock even if the socket is slipping with normal wrenches. You should probably try to get hold of one of those.

Try using an air hammer with the correct socket on it , rather than just brute force.... It requires a mechanical shock to break the seal, could even use an impact wrench.... .

Thats what I would try before taking the head off.

Often a seized thread can be loosened by turning the socket spanner in a  tightening direction. Also , as already mentioned,a sharp jerk is better than  smooth pressure.

at last i had time to play with this problem, took off the inlet and rocker cover etc, snapped off the top of the plug so i could hammer on a 15mm normal multi fit socket then spent 45mins back and forth and finally it came out.luckily the thread was still good and in went the new plug, refitted everything and fitted battery, now this car has stood for atleast 3 months plus its done 162k[no wear on cam] turned key and its away no rattle from chains, now its reset its self its running great and boy does it fly.reason for all this was the car misfired and ran lumpy having got plug out it looked ok until i held the plug up the right way the centre electrod covering fell down to touch the hook part resulting in no gap.thanks for all the help gents.
