Hi all, I have just bought a 1998 2.9 24v scorpio ultima estate which i am very pleased with so far, but i do have a bit of a problem (I THINK MIGHT BE ME) when driving it, it seems to float or wander every now and then not much but enough to make me worry a little, does anyone have any idea what might be causing this. Thanks Andy

Hi there, Check the rear wheel bearings as well. Very common for them to start to go but you don't hear them rumbling and they give exactly the symptoms you describe. HTH Thunderchild

What would be symptoms of rear wheel bearings that are "gone"? My car "wanders" a bit, but I figure that's because I've got 215 tyres and that the car is wider than the worn out parts of the road from the other cars. But, when i checked my tyres yesterday they were worn quite a bit on the inside, and hardly any on the outside.

when driving in straight line the back end feels like it is going from side to side and car doesn't seem to want to go in a straight line that is the best way of discribing it also this seems to be the only way to tell because the bearings make no noise when they are shot jack back of car up and see if wheels wobble try the N/s first Lee
