Hi Guys , I have been putting up with a poorly performing heater on my 2.3 Ultima. Basically luke warm air, gets hotter if you rev the engine. I discovered that if you back flush the system, it works wonders. The heater now blows really hot air out, almost too hot to put your hand into !!!!!! great so i reccommmend this to anyone. Especially as winter is upon us. just remove the heater pipe from the water pump and connect a garden hose to the heater pipe (not to the water pump) and force water through the matrix. it will pour out of the water pump so put a rag over it or another pipe and lead that onto the floor. it certainly worked for me !! pete

When I changed my heater matrix it was almost solid with sediment. I think there is a problem in the design of the heater system that causes this to happen to such a bad degree. I also inserted a custim made bleed valve assembly in one of the heater matrix rubber pipes (the one with the wicked u-bend in it).
