Had a look round the site for a diagram/layout of the 24v cooling system (the water one not the aircon Wink), like a cut away engine plan,  anyone know where there is one?
I'd like to have a crack at the ballooning rads problem Smiley

The one on the parts disk gives you the best idea http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/leaks but if anyone has a BOB 24V Cosworth Technical Service Manual that should have a much better diagram in it.
Looking for that manual myself but they are so rare Sad

- do you run standard cooling system with your mods.
- with extra heat output I would have thought you would have been prone to suffering ballooning with standard system and assume that it has been modded to match rest of engine.

I'm no Scorpio expert but have to say that header tank cap doesn't look as though it would "blow-off" easy.
This appears to be a random problem, which poor quality control of a component could possibly cause.
If I were to suffer ballooning I would be tempted to modify header tank to one with "old fashioned" type spring loaded cap with the assumption that someone on site would be able to tell me cap poundage required.

For a radiator to balloon some form of excess pressure must be present. Speak from experience on this point as I had within the space of 2 months 1 radiator balloon and leak and another actually explode in a cloud of steam/ superheated coolant on a Toyota diesel Landcuiser which was utter junk and the worst motor I,ve owned; even bettered by a Morris Marina van !!!
Please note I'm not a Scorpio expert, just using common sense to view problem

Well I fit the engines into Sierra XR4x4's.

The 24V engine actually does not create as much heat as a Sierra XR4x4 12V engine so I use the STD Sierra pipes & rad modded to fit the engine.
Temp gauge on these cars barely moves from cold so you can boost the engine no probs. infact the heater don't get very warm in the winter so you have to block part of the rad off Smiley
This applies to the BOA 24V, the BOB is still under development, infact just started putting the block together.
