problem after driving!

Once I got back to the gate (after driving for 40 min), my car died on me. Just stalled. And evertime I stopped, it stalled. I replaced the IAC valve (actually, only half of it, not the soleniod type part) about a month and a half ago, and i havent had problems until now. It was idling at about 800rpms. Also, the only way I can start it is in nuetral, pushing on the gas a bit, then throwing it in drive.
The thermo gauge also only read in the blue section the whole time. I'm gonna check that out.
When it first stalled on me, the guard said that i should get thicker oil in the car, and i possibly have to much water in my radiator?
Anyone know whats going on.
