Klonking sound when driving

Hello Guys! My 2,0 16V manual gear car has got some "klonking" sound when releasing the gas pedal or when pushing it down. I think I know why this sound comes from, but I dont know how to fix it? There is a long play in the cardan drive. And that play in the chafts makes a hard off/on enagagement. These"shafts" or what they are called, what i know, normally have some rubber parts on them to minimise the play from the engine back to the wheels. Could it be that the rubber are worn out? Is this a usual problem? Is there som standard axels/shafts that are normally changed in this case? Thanks Dave

May be the propshaft centre bearing , any vibration when cruising along? Check the exhaust, it may have lost a hanger and be clunking on summat.

Now the car is totally down! When I started to drive frome a redlight it wouldent move. Something in the rear is broken. The gear works but the power is not comming all the way back to the wheels! What is the most common fault? Drive axle or differential gear crash? I can hear fome the back that something is moveing when selecting a gear and trying to drive away. But car stands still. When I towed the car away I could hear a roar from the back. The scorp is dead!!!!! Thanks Dave

Bad luck mate, sounds like one of your CV joints has gone, there is hope though, you can pick one up fairly easily from your local friendly but overpriced scrappys.
