I was driving to work yesterday when i heard a rumble from the rear.As this happened the back end seemed to step out slightly.I decided to call in at a local garage as it worried me a bit.Today,me and a mechanic had a test drive and eventually the noise came back.To cut a long story short,i got a call from the garage at work to say as they jacked it up,the rear wheel fell off!He cant understand why i hadnt heard a shrieking noise. He asked if i had the radio turned up!Is this usual to get no noise from a wrecked bearing? .

Yep, I only heard the ominous sounds emanating from the boot when the rear seats were down, luckily I caught it in time and only the bearings and hub carrier ( £32 and £ 88 ) needed replacing .
