2007 RDS Radio has lost Medium Wave

Hi All - Anybody know anything about the peculiarities of the 2007 Radio/Cassette unit?
Mine's never been good for anything other than FM - that's brilliant, but Medium Wave's always just been a constant hissing with no stations ever found.
I've finally decided I ought to do something about it otherwise my Christmas journeys will seem even longer without the footy on Radio 5 !
Before I start having a prod around, I wondered if anyone else had this problem, or if it's a known fault with these units. Also, anything I should look out for while I've got the chisel and hammer out? (joking, OK?)
Anyone can offer any thoughts, would be appreciated.

I would check the connections to the arial. I believe that some cars have a problem with water ingress around the roof mount. Remove the front interior light and look for signs of rust etc. FM will work quite well especially with the likes of radio 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. whereas medium wave does need a good signal.

Thanks for the tip Baz - clears up my confusion about why FM was so good with MW bad.
I will start there and see what I find!
