intermittent sudden death of engine

i have a problem , my 95 ghia keeps jerking, there does not seem to be any particular time but lately on my way to work on the m62 at about 80 the car dies suddenly, Rev counter just dies straight away so i dont think its a fuel problem as that would die slowly, As soon as i turn the ignition off and back on put it in 5th and let clutch up it fires straight back up but unless you turn ignition off and on again it wont.

I have just got my lead from alex and hace a fault with an o2 sensor that i am currently sorting but i dont think that this will cure my prob, Any Ideas Huh?

Thanks

after reading the link, i had previously noted cracks in the loom and taped up, maybe as you suspect this is where the prob lies, but why after turning off ignition does it fire up ?

Maybe the few strands of wire that are making the connection heat up as they are trying to draw more current than they can manage?

Not sure about this, but when the engine cuts out it may close down the injectors etc requiring the ignition to be reset (turned off) before it will start again
