Topped up coolant system now have a high indicated temperature. Cooling fans work but not until temperature is very high. Possible airlock? advice please Happy new year bunny

Sounds like an airlock. Try running with the heater on hot and the expansion cap off (use care here). Raise the front end if you can (air will rise to highest point) and rev the engine a bit. Top up if required. HTH
