washerpump is dead

My windscreen washer is not working anymore. There is no sound when pushing the button, so I guess  the pump is dead. But, when measuring the volts on the wire it reads 8,5V when NOT pushing the button and  13V when pushing. With ignition off there is nothing. I have not replaced the pump yet, but wouldn`t the 8.5 burn it? In addition to this there is another foult wich I believe could be part of the problem: Sometimes when turning the lights off, my wipers turn three times like if I used the washer.
Would be very happy to be helped out with this one.

hello and welcome Cheesy

do you have covers fitted to battery and fuseboxes? sounds like waters getting to the electrics. i think both problems are connected.

thanks for your answers. Yes all my covers are in place, but I had problems this summer when I had water in my fusebox (when a cover was not fitted). I dismantled the box and dried it up with hot air, could it still be water in there? There should be no curren when not pushin the button, right, or is this hi-teck car even more hi-teck than I thougt.  I have done some work on this car after buying it and I could not live without this internet site. I am very thankful.
regards Odd Lien
