CD skipping

I have the 2007 unit and 6CD changer in the boot. I was getting skipping when going over the slightest of bumps and long drawn-out cutting in/out, static and error when going round corners. I decided to have a look at this today. Checked the wiring which seems OK, even moved it around when the CD was playing to see if it was a connection problem. I tightned up all the screws, a few were loose and went for a drive to see if it had done the trick. Wrong! Its worse now, pretty much un-bearable Any ideas?

Have you looked at this http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm. and followed the list re the CD player?. If i recall there is a post somewhere where the lead to earth was insulated but when unwrapped it was a 'bodged' job.As things are worse since you pulled the wiring about may be that is the area to concentrate on.

there was a TSB on later models (1997 onwards i think) about 1 of the brackets was not up to the job and a "revised" bracket was made availiable...

All fixed now Stripped the casing off and a couple of plates to get to the laser, give the lense a clean with a cotton bud, blasted some air duster through then finaly went round all exposed screws to make sure they were all tight. Works absolutley brill, took it on a test run round my area which is loaded with speed bumps and didnt get so much as a chipper. Couple of bits you need to be carefull of but quite a simple job
