Temperature guage

Hi,

Does anyone know where the temperature housing and sensor is located? maybe a photograph for the Ultima 2.3. I had Ford replace one the sender but the temp guage still refuses to move from the cold position. It did work for one day though. Perhaps there is a loose wire.

Many thanks.

hi there

it's under the air trunking at the throttle body. there are 2 sensors. the one you're looking for has a 'square' plug on it. can't remeber if it's the black one or the grey. be VERY careful if you take it off. it's screwed into a brass nut which is molded into a plastic manifold.

have you changed the thermostat? 2.3's are bad for them going. Sad

No, the theromstat has not been changed. The engine is happily humming away and the fans come on. The temp guage did come up briefly today and then died away again to cold position. Just can't work out what it is?

Cheers.

I think you're right. Because the fan comes on very quickly when you start up and the cabin never gets very hot. So the thermostat maybe locked open.

Thanks.
