Read this http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pcmirror.htm but above all PROTECT THE CENTRE CONSOLE as the 'gunge' which drips out is highly corrosive and will damage anything it touches.

Dave This seems to be a bug bare of the Scorpio. The only remedy seam to be a transplant! I got a replacement from eBay & replaced mine last year, it’s an easy job, but you may get it cheaper from this site as most of us aren’t in it for a profit.

I think that is the real cause of the failing mirrors in the Ultimas..............ugly drivers! Naturally, none of mine have ever broken!

By replacing the mirror you won't solve the problem. It's only a matter of time until the new mirror does the same. Oh, and please remove the old mirror NOW! Tomorrow may be too late. You never know when it decides to spill that goo all over your centre console and dashboard. It could be in six months, or it could be tomorrow. You're lucky it gave you a sign. I remember reading about mirrors that had leaked without warning (Snoopy's, I believe, but I'm not sure). Very unpleasant.
