24V auto - elusive 1st gear

Hello All Also posted in OBD as also relevant to gear box problem First OBD scan ever on sadly neglected 24V Executive. Not surprised at error codes present P0135 - O2 sensor heater circuit (Bank1 Sensor1) P0161 - O2 sensor heater circuit P0750 - Shift solenoid A P1131 - Lack of H02S11 switches - sensor indicates lean O/D light flashes once box has changed into 3rd. At standstill no light. O/D engages at cruising speed. Gearbox refuses to engage 1st gear even when 1st manually selected appears to start in 2nd whether slow set off or pedal to metal makes no difference. No difference if econ / sport / snow. Occasionally kicks down into 1st if floored at 25mph. Engine has been "boiled up" more than once judging by engine bay and state of coolant - rusty water. Heater works OK though. Airbox bottom coated in brown yellow goo that has come thro' breather pipe. Only car it a day - cleaned MAF as dirty but no noticable difference in run up road. At least it has a spotless MAF. Anyone ever replaced - Shift solenoid A - I assume thats why no 1st gear. Is it easy to get to as I was going to do oil & filter change on auto box soon weather permitting. Fingers crossed that - Shift solenoid A - accessable once sump off & not hidden away in internals. Opinions & advice sought Thanks david
