Problems with model 7000 Radio cassette

Hoping you guys may be able to help, basically I have a model 7000 Radio cassette player in my car, it has a fault whereby the LCD screen starts to fade then disappears completely the back light working fine all the time its just the actual display that comes and goes. I’m told (by a number of people on the net) that it’s a common problem – with an easy fix but I’m unable to find that fix . Does any one know about this problem and how to fix it Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

It's not an easy fix, mine has the same problem, some people say it's moisture in the unit, took mine out and dried it for a few days but it's still blank, tried a new security panel same. There's loads of thjem on ebay for about £40-50,just get one of those.

Yeah mine cam from eBay about 3-4 months ago, I’m reluctant to buy another one for the same thing to happen - as I’m told it’s quite common. I think if I am going to buy another one, it will be either an older 2006 model or an aftermarket unit and use an adapter plate. But I do quite like the large simple controls on the 7000 series Thanks for the reply

Mine gave out shortly after buying it. Tryed all the drying tricks and so on with mixed results. In the end it just flickerd back to life over a month ago now and has thankfully stayed on. OK, I've just jinxed now
