Hi everyone, I was wanting to check the fluid level in the rear axle. The manual on the site states 1.3lit Hypoid oil to lower edge of check bore - I'm assuming then that you remove the plug and if oil seeps out then you're OK, else top up with EP90? Or does it take a "special" oil?

Yeah you got it. Can't remember if it's EP90 but it's the same as most rear wheel drive Fords. Sierra, Granada etc.

Thanks, Have to admit that I can't remember what type of oil is used, and Ford do seem to have a nasty habit of changing the type on a regular basis!

Well, I had a bash at checking the level at the weekend, but I couldn't get the plug to shift, so I think I may have to pass this one over to my local garage!! In theory as long as the unit isn't leaking then there shouldn't be any need to top it up? Unfortunately the front seal appears to be leaking on mine, so I thought it would be a good idea to check it!
