Wont start - Hot start!!

I have an Ultima 2.9 12v on a 1995 N plate. Cracking car, however I am having a problem. It will start from cold with no worries but when it reaches it's operating temperature it cuts out. It will not start until it is cold again. The starter motor is turning over nicely and the alternator is pumping out between 13.1 and 14.1 when the engine is running. It has a new battery on it, but this does seem to discharge itself real quick? I have a feeling that it could be the fuel pressure regulatorHuh?
What do you think guys and girlsHuhHuh Huh

Welcome to the site  Cheesy

Sounds like a possible fuel pressure regulator problem as you say.

Worth checking the fuel pump relay next time it won't start - does it feel very hot? Could be braking down. Check if the pins are clean.

Hope this helps!  Smiley

I agree - sounds like an electrical component "breaking down" when hot.
Happened to me once with a bike- stopped for no reason - wait 30 mins -  started & run 5 mile - stopped again etc. etc. - got home several hours later!!
Turned out to be coil assembly which stopped sparking when hot. Progessively got worse - longer waits - less miles
When it stops do you still have a spark??
Could be coil pack?
Hope this helps

Thanks for the rplies, i will replace the relay first of all.
I'm sure this is it as the engine will fire and run for about 2 minutes then cut off and will not restart until it has totally cooled down again. Any more suggestions?? Wink

The 12v only has a stardard coil ignition, if you are having difficulty HOT starting the  things to look to are
The coil and the associated fuel pump relay, as already suggested and secondly the fuel pressure regulator, but this does not ussually stop the car from sdtarting but makles it difficult to start if over fuelling.
from the sysptoms you describe I would think it is more like;py to be electrical rather than fuel!
