Door Window/Mirror Control

Hi Everyone,

Yet another "issue" to be resolved! I noticed this morning on the way in that there was no power to the door/mirror control panel in the drivers door (It did this on Sunday as well, but then started working again!). All the window controls on the other doors appear to be OK.

Is this a common problem? Does this unit have it's own fuse/common supply? or are we talking broken/loose connections here? Cry

Could just be a "faulty"  mirror control if you want one to try send me your address in a PM and I will send you one to try in its place.

Thanks for the offer, but I think it must be something to do with the power supply as all of the window switches are dead as well Sad

Go to this page (handbook) scroll down to page 130 which is the start of the fuses listing etc. Have you checked the connector from the door to the door pillar?.

Thanks,

Do you get problems with the door to door pillar connections? I checked the fuse/relay section on the service/repair part of the site, but there doesn't appear to be a specific fuse for the unit.

Steve, Central fuse box, Fuse 21 =Heated mirror. Fuse 25 Power window,Fuse 26 Power window drivers side. Relay 30,said to be in the drivers door, coloured brown. I can't say I recall any posts about the door connection but it must be a point to check for corrosion etc. I vaguely recall a post a long time ago suggesting the Brown relay was not in the door but it may depend on model or date of constuction.   Just found the post I was thinking of.http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action= display;num=1129042078;start=5#5. See if that helps.

Thanks Simmo,

Have to admit that I didn't notice fuse 21 Embarassed

I discounted fuses 25/26 and the "trip" relay as the switches on the other 3 doors are still working. But having said that, it never pays to rush at things, and assumption is the mother of all firk ups, so I shall check them accordingly!!

Another possibility is the power wire coming through the car/door connection. The constant opening and closing flexes the wire and can eventually cause it to break. This was a common fault with the Sierra hatchback where it was the ariel wire which broke.

Simmo, I did thanks, and I've printed it out accordingly. The only down side is that there isn't enough space between the cars in the car park to fully open the drivers door, so a limited check only at lunchtime (I suppose it beats sitting at your PC!!) Grin
