Hi all. When my car is up to temp I noticed yesterday that the rubber hoses on the cooling system are very hard.... How hard is normal Does this mean Head Gasket gone or could something else cause it ?? e.g. Partially blocked rad ? It does not overheat though at all! Temp never rises above mid way ! Thanks for any advice all !

As long as the bottom rad hose is cooler than the top one and you're not losing coolant then you have nothing to worry about. Are the hoses softer when the engine's cold ?

They are much softer when the engines cold. When cold I can squeeze e.g. the top rad hose till it touches itself in the middle... when hot .. no chance.. I was loosing coolant until I replaced the rad expansion tank cap a couple of weeks ago... been ok since.. car only been driven once in that time tho.... but not lost coolant. Cheers
